Sabrina finds it difficult to work on her latest suspense novel when her Aunt Rowe’s antics keep tying up her thoughts. This time Rowe and her fun-loving friends have decided to compete in the upcoming Texas Hill Country Senior Pro Rodeo. The problem is these women have little to no experience with lassos, bulls, or even horseback riding.
Before Sabrina can keep the stubborn seniors from mounting their steeds, she’s sidetracked by a bigger problem. An uppity local business owner is found dead in an accident—right after a black cat was seen in her office. While the townsfolk think the bad luck cat has struck again, Sabrina suspects there might be something more murderous afoot. With a twisted killer on the loose, she’ll have to round up clues quickly before she or her aunt are steered straight into the path of danger…
Kay Finch grew up on a Pennsylvania farm but she got to Texas as fast as she could and discovered the Texas Hill Country, setting of her Bad Luck Cat mysteries. As a child Kay wrote mystery stories, but it wasn’t until she went to work for a renowned criminal defense attorney in Houston that plot ideas began to flow. In addition to the Bad Luck Cat mysteries, Kay has written the Corie McKenna PI mysteries, Final Decree and Final Cut, and Relative Chaos, a Klutter Killer mystery. Kay is a long-time member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division. She lives with her husband, a rescue cat, and two wild and crazy rescue dogs in a Houston suburb.
Review of The Black Cat Knocks on Wood
Review (4.5 Stars): I absolutely adore Sabrina and Hitchcock and this series keeps getting better and better. Sabrina is working on her latest novel when she finds herself in the middle of another mystery but this time, it involves her trusty sidekick, Hitchcock. She must now find a killer before a good friend and her feline buddy end up in trouble for a crime they didn’t commit.
I loved The Black Cat Knocks on Wood and this series is so delightful. Each mystery is well-written and complex with the just the right amount of humor mixed in. Sabrina and Hitchcock are the perfect crime-fighting duo and each mystery is an absolute treat. Can’t wait to read book number three and see what happens next for these two.
