Halloween conjures up big business for Margo Tamblyn’s costume shop, Disguise DeLimit, but this year, the holiday comes knocking with serious trouble. Venture capitalist Paul Haverford plans to rezone historic downtown into a glitzy commercial area which would push out local business. Margo is set on saving her family’s store, especially after a nasty run-in with the chain-store tycoon, but after Haverford’s body is discovered during a spooky party at the derelict Alexandria Hotel, Margo finds herself dressed as the police’s prime suspect.

Anxious to clear her name, Margo begins hunting down anyone who might have wanted Haverford dead. Between all of his malicious maneuverings, the murdered mogul had buckets of people anxious to see him gone. Now, Margo will have to use every trick in the book to find a cloaked killer—before someone else winds up wearing a death shroud…

Review of Masking for Trouble

Review (4.5 Stars):  Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I was so excited to see that Margo was gearing up for the crazy Halloween season in Proper City.  Everyone has picked out and planned their costume for the spooky party at the Alexandria Hotel until the new owner throws a wrench in all her plans.  The winner of the costume contest can’t be from Disguise DeLimit or it would cause a lot of legal trouble for Margo and the store.  Things couldn’t get any worse until the new owner, Paul Haverford is found dead at the party and all the evidence points to Margo being the prime suspect.  Now, Margo must clear her name with a little help from her friends or she may just spend this Halloween behind bars.

This is the second book in the Costume Shop Mystery series and I love Margo and Disguise DeLimit.  This mystery has it all with suspense, humor and a sassy heroine.  I love the costume shop idea and this mystery kept me guessing until the very end.  If you love Halloween and cozy mysteries, Masking for Trouble is a winner and I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Vallere.
