Born in Denmark, Sophie Barnes spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places all around the world. She’s lived in five different countries, on three different continents, and speaks Danish, English, French, Spanish and Romanian. She has studied design in Paris and New York and has a bachelor’s degree from Parsons. But, most impressive of all, she’s been married to the same man three times—in three different countries and in three different dresses.
While living in Africa, Sophie turned to her lifelong passion: writing. When she’s not busy dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, cooking, gardening, watching romantic comedies and, of course, reading. She currently lives on the East Coast.

Review (3.75 Stars): I loved the interaction between Chloe and James in The Earl’s Complete Surrender. These two characters were both looking for the same journal that had vital information about the people involved in a British conspiracy. They spent most of the book playing cat and mouse until they both realized they were searching for the same thing and joined forces. I liked the whole espionage plot in this story and it made this book very intriguing.
I liked Chloe and James together as characters but I just didn’t feel that they had a lot of chemistry together. I liked the verbal dialogue between these two characters but I just had a hard time feeling that they were attracted to one another. It didn’t take away from the story for me and I enjoyed the time I spent reading The Earl’s Complete Surrender.
This is the second book in the Secrets at Thorncliff Manor series and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I do recommend that you read Lady Sarah’s Sinful Desires first because it will provide a great background for this story.
