It’s almost Fourth of July, and to boost customer traffic in their Brooklyn neighborhood, bookseller Darla Pettistone decides to throw a block party. All the local shop owners are thrilled—except the proprietor of Perky’s Coffee Shop, who thinks Darla is trying to poach his customers by selling her own caffeinated brew in her new bookshop café.
But when Hamlet comes upon the owner’s not-so-perky wife, it’s clear a killer has crashed the party. And when a second local business owner shuffles off this mortal coil—as Hamlet’s namesake would say—Darla and her curious cat must perform some fancy footwork to shine a spotlight on a secret worth killing for…

Review of Plot Boiler
Review (4 Stars): I love Hamlet and he is just one of those characters that you will instantly love. In this mystery, Darla is helping to organize a block party where she can bring more visitors into their lovely community and finds that this may cause more problems then it is worth. Then when Hamlet finds the body of the local coffee shop owner’s wife, who just happens to be in competition with Darla, the fur definitely begins to fly. Someone is knocking off business owners and Darla must find a killer before her name is next on the list.
This is such a great series and I loved this well-written fast-paced mystery. I loved learning more about Darla since the beginning of the series and seeing Hamlet is always a treat. This is the fifth book in the Black Cat Bookshop mystery series and I can’t wait to see what adventures take place next for Darla and Hamlet
