At the heart of Lilac Lane is Keira Malone, who raised her three children alone after her first marriage broke apart, and who, after years of guarding her heart, finally finds love again. But that love is short-lived when her fiancé suffers a fatal heart attack. Grieving and unsure of what’s next, Keira agrees to move from Dublin to Chesapeake Shores, Maryland, to spend time with her daughter, Moira, and her new granddaughter, Kate, as well as to help her son-in-law, Luke, with his Irish pub, O’Briens.

Not wanting to live underfoot, she rents a charming cottage on Lilac Lane, replete with views of the ocean and her neighbor’s thriving garden—not to mention views of the neighbor himself. The neighbor is none other than Bryan Laramie, the brusque and moody chef at the pub, with whom Keira is constantly butting heads. But things get real when Bryan’s long-lost daughter, whom he hasn’t seen since she was a baby, shows up out of the blue. As Bryan and Keira each delve into their pasts, reopening wounds, the rest of the town is gearing up for the Fall Festival Irish Stew cook-off, and making no bones about whose side they’re on. It’s Kitchen Wars meets This is Your Life—a recipe for disaster…or a new take on love?

Review of Lilac Lane

Review (4 Stars):  This is a new series for me and I was absolutely charmed by the residents of Chesapeake Shores, Maryland.  Keira had always been protecting her heart from pain and when she had finally decided to give love one more chance, she loses her fiancé to a fatal heart attack on the same day that he asks her to be his wife.  Her daughter then convinces her to move to Chesapeake Shores to spend time with her and her new family, hoping that the change of scenery will mean a fresh start for Keira.  What Keira finds there is a new job at the local pub and a new chef who seems to challenge her at every turn. As Keira begins to learn more about Bryan’s past, she finds that they may have more in common than they think and that she isn’t the only one that is trying to protect their heart from love.

I really enjoyed spending time with Keira and getting to know her character better.  She was hurt in the past and just when she thought things were changing for the better, she lost the man that she opened her heart to.  I loved the verbal sparring between Keira and Bryan and you could definitely see that these two had chemistry with one another whenever they came into contact with each other.  I just knew that it would take some time for them to see it too.

Lilac Lane was an enjoyable story for me and even though I am new to the series, I was able to follow along just fine.  I loved these characters and I’m hoping to visit this community again very soon.
