With opening day of Material Girl approaching, Poly is stocking up on lush fabrics, colorful notions, and best of all, a proprietary weave of velvet. But upon delivery, it’s not quite the blend she expected, being ninety-percent silk and ten-percent corpse. Crushed under a dozen bolts of fabric is Phil Girard. His wife, Genevieve, local tea shop owner and close friend of Poly, is the prime suspect.
Granted, Phil may not have been the perfect husband, but surely Genevieve had no reason to kill him! There’s just the small matter of Genevieve’s own incriminating confession: I’m afraid I killed my husband. Now, as Material Girl’s grand opening looms, Poly is torn between a friendship pulling apart at the seams—and finding a smooth killer with a velvet touch…

Review of Crushed Velvet
Review (4.25 Stars): Such a fun and exciting mystery. Poly is working on opening her new store, Material Girl, when a friend is murdered while picking up a delivery for her of velvet fabric. To make matters worse, her good friend, Genevieve, is the prime suspect for the murder and is about to convicted for a crime she didn’t commit. Now, Poly must work quickly to find a killer before the opening of her store and everyone’s dreams are torn apart.
This is the second book in the Material Witness and I absolutely adored Poly. She is this great character that has a lot of spunk and heart and is willing to do anything to help a friend. Crushed Velvet was a great mystery because there were so many secrets that came to light and I had a great time trying to figure out why Phil was killed in the first place. Looking forward to reading book number three.
I’m excited to give away a copy of Crushed Velvet. This giveaway is for US Residents only. To be entered in the drawing by August 24th, please leave me a comment below:
