When the library roof collapses from the harsh winter weather, diner owner and comfort food chef Trixie Matkowski decides to organize a mac-and-cheese cook-off to raise funds for repairs. Priscilla Finch-Smythe, famous TV chef and former Sandy Harbor resident, is not only available to judge the contest—she’s offering an appearance on her show as the grand prize.
Trixie hopes that winning first place in the cook-off will help boost publicity for her Silver Bullet Diner. But when another winner is announced, and Priscilla is later found frozen in a snowbank, Trixie starts getting attention from the police instead. Now she’ll have to noodle over this mystery before everything really goes to pot….
About the Author:
Chris Wenger has worked in the criminal justice field for more years than she cares to remember. She has a dual master’s degree in Probation and Parole Studies and Sociology from Fordham University, but the knowledge gained from such studies certainly did not prepare her for what she loves to do the most–writing romance and mysteries!
Her first book, THE LADY AND THE COWBOY, a western historical, was written for beginning adult readers and was sold to Laubach Literacy. In 1998, it was chosen by the Publishers Liaison Committee of the Public Library Association’s Adult Lifelong Learning Section as one of the “Top Titles for Adult New Readers.”
A native Central New Yorker, she enjoys watching professional bull riding and rodeo with her favorite cowboy, her husband Jim.
Review of Macaroni and Freeze
Review (4 Stars): I love culinary mysteries and this series is one of my absolute favorites. Trixie is a very strong and independent heroine who can take care of herself in any situation. The secondary characters are fun and quirky and add so much to this delightful series. The mystery in Macaroni and Freeze was well-written, engaging and had me guessing until the very end. Such a wonderful series and I love spending time in Sandy Harbor and can’t wait to see what is next for this entertaining group of characters.
