Business is booming for Libby Beckett and her fabulous Maryland shop, aptly named Y.A.R.N., but when a town festival brings a fatality with it, Libby gets all tangled up in murder.
As spring comes to Collinstown, the village launches a food festival to draw a new group of tourists. Libby, the proud owner of Y.A.R.N., has planned a yarn event to provide an alternative option to a foodie weekend. Artisan fiber dyer Julie Wilson—known for her work with animal-friendly, plant-based knitting fibers such as bamboo and hemp as well as her brilliant use of color—will hopefully draw a crowd with a special dyeing workshop.
The festival begins, but it draws more than crowds. First, a flock of sheep parades down the street, herded by farmers protesting Julie’s antiwool stance. Then Julie’s celebrity chef sister appears, and the siblings resume a long-standing rivalry. Despite all this, Julie’s workshop has sold out. Libby is thrilled, and they’re preparing for a full house. But the night before the event, Julie is found alone in the warehouse event space—dead. The witty “Watch Julie Wilson Dye” workshop title now has a terrible new meaning—and it’s up to Libby to catch a crafty killer.

My name is Hank, but don’t ever call me “just a dog.”
I may not be human, but I’m as essential around my owner’s knit shop “Y.A.R.N.” as any staff member or customer. When Libby Beckett adopted me as a puppy, I knew we’d be special companions. I’m as loyal to her as they come, and not just because she knits me an endless supply of dapper dog sweaters. I welcome customers, draw out shy people, entertain children while their moms shop for yarn and patterns, and generally add to the friendly charm that keeps people coming back to Y.A.R.N.
Oh, and eat snacks. I excel at eating snacks. Especially the ones Libby’s best friend Margo brings me from her pie shop across the street. Forget bacon, Margo’s shortbread is a taste of heaven. OK, maybe don’t forget the bacon, too.
Lately, though, I’ve had to develop a new skill: sniffing out clues…and culprits. When Libby thought running a yarn shop would be a quiet career, she was wrong. Dead wrong. It’s been anything but quiet since that prickly yarn dyer Julie Wilson came to town. Who thought parading sheep—sheep!—down our main street would be a good idea? I’m an English bulldog, not a sheepherding breed. When Julie turned up dead, things got drastic for my owner. It was hard work keeping her calm while she found herself solving yet another murder.
Shepherds crooks are showing up for nefarious purposes all over town. Family arguments are escalating into full blown battles. Libby’s mother Rhonda is taking her usual meddling to a new level. My poor owner is surrounded by twists and turns that have us all wondering if we’ll ever discover who wanted Julie dead.
What’s a dog to do? Stand loyally by the side of my owner while she does what she always does: follow the clues until she solves the murder. Then maybe we’ll get to go back to our long walks along the river and cozy naps by the fire.

Review of Knit or Dye Trying
Review: (4 Stars): Knit of Dye Trying was an adorable cozy mystery with a lovely cast of characters. I loved being a part of the food festival and learning more about Libby’s wonderful yarn shop. This was a great mystery and I’m so excited to see what happens next for Libby and Hank.
